About the COMFORT 30
Based on the JOKER S30 by Rolf Magnusson. A few were built in the mid 1970s by Robertsons of Scotland (12?), but most were built in Sweden.
Designed by Kenneth Albinsson and built by Comfortbåtar AB (SWE) and Robertsons (UK) from 1972–1980, the Comfort 30 is a robust cruising sloop with 1000 hulls produced. Its heavy displacement of 7275.0 lb and fin keel configuration provide a stable platform that has earned a reputation for durability among long-term owners.
- Best for:
- This boat is ideally suited for coastal cruisers and those seeking a comfortable, stable liveaboard experience, given its high comfort ratio of 20.95 and spacious interior layout typical of the era.
- Bluewater capability:
- With a low capsize ratio of 2.06 and substantial ballast of 3064.2 lb, the Comfort 30 is well-regarded for offshore passages, provided the structural integrity of the deck core and keel attachment is verified.
- Comparables:
- Comparable vessels include the Tartan 30 and O'Day 30, which share similar production eras and displacement characteristics, though the Comfort 30 distinguishes itself with a slightly wider beam of 9.94 ft and a more modern interior arrangement.
