About the TICON 30

Shoal Keel vers.: draft 3.92'; displacement 9,900 lbs; ballast 4.550 lbs Engine: Years 1984-1986 - Volvo Penta 18 hp diesel. Thanks to TICON 30 owner Leaf for providing information on the engine and tankage. In 1981, Ticon Yachts, Ltd. purchased the rights to the CY-30 / TMI-30 from Texas Marine Industries. The first TICON 30's were produced in Oakville Ontario, Canada. One design change: Ticon Yachts deviated from the Chrysler / Herreshoff design by offering the more traditional Atkins & Hoyle opening ports as a replacement option for the fixed Plexiglas windows (Photo above). In 1983, an agreement was reached with Kelt Marine to manufacture the boat at Kelt's plant in Aurora, Ontario. It has been said that the quality of the T-30's improved following the move to Kelt Marine. For the most part, The Canadian T-30's were produced on a per-order basis. Many were semi-custom boats with special colors and small optional interior modifications. An estimated (35) T-30's were produced during the tenure of Ticon Yachts. Photo courtesy Adam Hunt.
