About the MICROSAIL (MULL)

Designed to the Micro Class rule and one of the most popular boats sailed in the French Micro Cup circuit. Initially built by Jeanneau, it was later built by a number of companies, the last one, C.N. Loire, ceased production in 2000. The Microsail was then sold only as a kit. Production later resumed by C.N. Franck Roy.(as of 2007) Last known builder: Construction Navale Franck Roy Route de La Rochelle 17230 MARANS France Tél/fax: 05.46.01.66.37 - 06.81.68.01.07 E-mail: contact@cnfr.fr

Sailpages Buyer's Take

The Microsail (Mull) is a compact, high-performance fractional sloop designed by Gary Mull and built by Jeanneau/Franck Roy in France. Production was limited to the year 1980, with an unknown total hull count, resulting in a rare and specialized vessel in the modern micro-cruising category.

Best for:
This boat is best suited for experienced single-handers or couples seeking a lightweight, trailerable coastal cruiser that prioritizes sailing performance and ease of handling over heavy offshore comfort.
Bluewater capability:
With a very low displacement of 1323.0 lb and a capsize ratio of 2.93, the boat is not recommended for extended bluewater passages but is capable of protected coastal cruising and short offshore trips in moderate conditions.
Comparables:
It is comparable to other 18-foot performance trailboats like the O'Day 18 or the Microsail (Cape Dory) due to similar length overall (18.04 ft) and fractional sloop rigs, though the Mull's design emphasizes a different balance of speed and stability.
