About the CAL 27
The first in a series of 3 Cal 27s, all by Lapworth, but different designs. (The later versions are generally referred to as CAL 2-27, and CAL 3-27.) An IOR 1/2 ton version was called the CAL T/2.
Designed by William Lapworth and built by Jensen Marine (USA) from 1971–1974, the CAL 27 is a classic coastal cruiser with 306 hulls produced. Its reputation is defined by a comfortable interior and manageable size, though owners frequently report structural maintenance challenges that require diligent attention.
