About the ANNAPOLIS 26 (1972)

As far as I can tell, this is a modified version of the earlier ANNOPOLIS 26 (HOLMES) by Tidewater Yachts. The brochure I've seen (for this version) shows a boat with a very similar hull, and slightly different coachroof. Included in the description is "interior updated by Brian Clark".

Sailpages Buyer's Take

The Annapolis 26 is a 1972-era masthead sloop designed by John Holms and Brian Clark and built by Mobjack Manufacturing in the USA. With a production run limited to the single year of 1972 and an unknown total hull count, this vessel represents a specific snapshot of early 1970s American boatbuilding.

Best for:
This boat is best suited for coastal cruisers and weekend sailors who prioritize a manageable 25.0 ft LOA and moderate displacement for easy trailering or mooring. Its dimensions and rigging suggest it is ideal for single-handers or couples seeking a straightforward, traditional sailing experience rather than high-performance racing.
Bluewater capability:
With a displacement of 4900.0 lb and a capsize ratio of 1.93, the Annapolis 26 is primarily a coastal cruiser with limited bluewater capability. Its fin keel and moderate D/L ratio of 273.44 suggest it is not optimized for heavy offshore passages compared to heavier, full-keel designs.
Comparables:
Comparable boats include the Pearson 26 and the O'Day 26, as they share similar beam widths, displacement ranges, and the same era of production. These vessels are comparable because they all offer a balance of cabin space and sailing performance typical of mid-1970s 25-footers.
