About the LIBERTY 22

The LIBERTY 23 (19 built) varied slightly with the same hull, more ballast, with slightly more sail area. When the free-standing aluminum masts for the LIBERTY (cat ketches) were no longer available, Hunter introduced a gaff rigged sloop version with the same hull called the MINSTREL which was built until 1993.

Designed by David Thomas and built by Hunter Boats Ltd. (UK) from 1982–1987, the Liberty 22 is a compact cat-ketch sloop with a total production of 65 hulls. Its lightweight displacement of 2900.0 lb and unstayed rig define its character as a nimble, easy-to-handle day sailor.
