About the LANDFALL 39 (AMY)
Renamed the VAGABOND 39 when the molds were purchased by Bluewater Yachts.
Designed by Ron Amy and built by Sino American Yacht Industrial Co., Ltd. in Taiwan, the Landfall 39 (Amy) was produced from 1974–1984 with a total of 200 hulls built. This full-keel cutter is recognized for its robust construction and heavy displacement, appealing to owners seeking a traditional, seakworthy cruising platform.
- Best for:
- This boat is best suited for experienced coastal and offshore cruisers who prioritize stability and protection over speed, particularly those willing to manage the maintenance demands of a 1970s-era fiberglass hull.
- Bluewater capability:
- With a displacement of 23500.0 lb and a capsize ratio of 1.61, the Landfall 39 exhibits strong offshore suitability, further supported by owner reports of watermaker and bow thruster installations indicating active long-range use.
- Comparables:
- Comparable boats include the Tartan 38 and O'Day 38, which share similar full-keel, heavy-displacement characteristics and target the same market of conservative bluewater cruisers.
