About the ITCHEN FERRY 25

Based on the earlier traditional Itchen Ferry. Available in varying stages of completion. Contact was: G. Drummond-Bayne Ltd. Willments Shipyard Hazel Road Woolston, Southamton SO2 7HS Thanks to Hennie Peeters of the Netherlands for providing information. Sailpages Buyer's Take

Designed by G. Drummond-Bayne and built by G. Drummond-Bayne Ltd.(UK), the Itchen Ferry 25 is a compact coastal cruiser with a production run starting in 1973. With a hull count of ?, this vessel offers a balanced performance profile characterized by a Comfort ratio of 25.72 and a D/L ratio of 230.06.

Best for:
This boat suits coastal cruisers and weekend sailors who prioritize ease of handling and trailerability over long-range offshore passage making. Its manageable size and moderate displacement make it ideal for single-handers or couples seeking a low-maintenance entry into sailing.
Bluewater capability:
With a Capsize ratio of 1.74 and a Full/Long keel, the boat is stable but its 6270.0 lb displacement and 25.0 ft LOA limit its suitability to protected coastal waters rather than open ocean bluewater cruising.
Comparables:
Comparable boats include the O'Day 23 and Pearson 23, which share similar dimensions and target the same market of affordable, trailerable coastal cruisers from the 1970s. These vessels offer similar masthead sloop rigs and full keel configurations for stability.
