About the HERITAGE 35

Heritage Yachts was located at Oakdale, ONT. In 1976, the molds were purchased by Grampian Marine, which went out of business before any additional hulls were built. Same tooling was later used for the INTREPID 35.

Sailpages Buyer's Take

Designed by McCurdy & Rhodes and built by Heritage Yacht Builders Co. Ltd. (CAN) from 1974–1977, the Heritage 35 is a rare vessel with only 14 hulls produced. Its scarcity and pedigree make it a unique find for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a classic Canadian-built cruiser.

Best for:
This boat suits experienced coastal cruisers and bluewater adventurers who value a heavy-displacement, comfortable motion over high-speed performance. Its robust construction and classic layout appeal to those seeking a reliable, traditional sailing experience.
Bluewater capability:
With a displacement of 13700.0 lb and a capsize ratio of 1.7, the Heritage 35 is well-suited for offshore passages, offering excellent stability and motion comfort in heavy weather.
Comparables:
Comparable to other McCurdy & Rhodes designs like the Island Packet 38 or the Tartan 38, these boats share similar heavy displacement, fin keels, and a focus on seaworthiness and comfort. They represent the same era of conservative, safe offshore cruising yachts.
