About the GRAND SOLEIL 34 (FINOT)
The first Grand Soleil built by Cantiere del Pardo. A model, to this same design, was also built in Japan. Shallow draft: 1.6m/5.64'
Designed by Group Finot and built by Cantiere del Pardo (ITA), the Grand Soleil 34 is a classic Italian cruiser with a production run from 1972–1983. With 300 hulls built, this model represents a significant portion of the builder's early output, combining traditional aesthetics with performance-oriented design.
- Best for:
- This boat suits coastal cruisers and weekend sailors who prioritize interior volume and classic styling over extreme offshore ruggedness. Its moderate displacement and fin keel make it responsive for bay and coastal sailing.
- Bluewater capability:
- With a displacement of 9900.0 lb and a capsize ratio of 2.11, the boat is stable but lacks the heavy displacement and full keel typically preferred for serious bluewater passagemaking.
- Comparables:
- Comparable to the Nauticat 33 and Beneteau First 343 from the same era, as they share similar beam, displacement, and masthead sloop configurations. These boats offer similar interior layouts and performance profiles for coastal cruising.
