About the FURIA 25
LOD: 25 ft/7.62m A kit version was called the FURY 800.
Designed by Ed Dubois and built by Dresport / Furia Yachts (ESP), the Furia 25 is a rare 1981 production model with only 30 hulls built. This lightweight, fin-keel sloop offers a distinct blend of performance and simplicity for its era.
- Best for:
- This boat suits coastal cruisers and weekend racers who prioritize agility and ease of handling over heavy offshore comfort. Its low displacement and moderate sail area make it ideal for single-handers or couples seeking a responsive, no-fuss sailing experience.
- Bluewater capability:
- With a displacement of 4354.0 lb and a capsize ratio of 2.33, the Furia 25 is best suited for protected coastal waters rather than extended bluewater passages. Its light weight and fin keel provide excellent performance in moderate conditions but lack the heavy displacement and stability typically preferred for serious offshore cruising.
- Comparables:
- Comparable to other early 1980s European performance cruisers like the Beneteau First 23 or O'Day 23, the Furia 25 shares a similar emphasis on speed and manageable size. However, its specific Ed Dubois design and Spanish construction offer a unique alternative to the more common American and French models of the period.
