About the FREEDOM 33

When introduced the FREEDOM 33 featured freestanding carbon spars, wrap-around/sleeved sails with wishbone type booms, (as shown here: The sleeved sails and wishbones were later abandoned for a more conventional sail attachment arrangement and standard booms. (A similar scenario took place with the FREEDOM 28.) Also available with fixed keel. Draft: 4.17ft / 1.28m This boat was also built in the UK (Western Yachts) and sold as the FREEDOM 35.

Designed by J. Paris/Garry Hoyt and built by Tillotson Pearson Inc from 1979–1983, the Freedom 33 is a distinctive cat-ketch sloop known for its unstayed rig and heavy displacement. With a displacement of 12000.0 lb and a comfort ratio of 24.21, it offers a stable, motion-dampened ride favored by traditionalists.
