About the ETAP 21i
Duel transom hung rudders. Available with fin keel: - Draft - 1.3m / 4.25ft - Displacement - 1,180 kg / 2,601 lbs - Ballast - 300 kg / At some point after 2009, Etap/MIC Industries introduced the 22s. Same hull as the 21i. It is unknown if any 22s' were produced (as of 2021).
Designed by Mortain-Mavrikios and built by Etap Yachting (BEL) from 1997–2009, the Etap 21i is a compact fractional sloop with 549 hulls produced. Its lightweight displacement of 2712.0 lb and high SA/D ratio of 21.22 indicate a design prioritizing performance and ease of handling over heavy cruising comfort.
- Best for:
- This boat suits coastal cruisers, weekend warriors, and single-handers who prioritize easy trailering and quick setup over long-term offshore endurance. Its shallow max draft of 2.3 ft and manageable dimensions make it ideal for access to shallow waters and small marinas.
- Bluewater capability:
- With a low displacement of 2712.0 lb and a capsize ratio of 2.35, the Etap 21i is not recommended for serious bluewater cruising due to its light construction and limited reserve buoyancy.
- Comparables:
- Comparable boats include the Beneteh First 21 and the O'Day 23, which share similar fractional sloop rigs and lightweight performance-oriented hulls from the same era. These models offer similar footprints for trailerability but often differ in interior volume and build quality.
