About the E BOAT (EVERITT)

This from designer Julian Everitt: "E Boat was originally designed as an offshore one design and predates the mini ton, but happens to be the right size as it was conceived to be the smallest that would measure under the IOR rule." (Plans are still available through class web site.) Original Builder: Evolution Yachts Ltd. Other builders: Cobramould (UK) Production Yachts PTY. (Austrialia) Cedinsa (Spain) Still available (2016) from Vela 77 (Italy)

Sailpages Buyer's Take

Designed by Julian Everitt and built by Evolution Yachts Ltd. (UK) and Vela 77 (ITA), the E Boat is a compact, high-performance daysailer with a production run spanning 1974โ€“2009. With approximately 400 hulls built, this vessel is characterized by its lightweight displacement of 2396.0 lb and a masthead sloop rig.

Best for:
This boat is ideally suited for coastal daysailing, club racing, and trailerable cruising due to its shallow max draft of 4.6 ft and manageable LOA of 21.98 ft.
Bluewater capability:
With a low displacement of 2396.0 lb and a comfort ratio of 10.38, the E Boat is designed for coastal and protected waters rather than offshore bluewater passage-making.
Comparables:
Comparable vessels include other 22-foot trailerable daysailers from the same era, such as the O'Day 22 or Pearson 22, which share similar beam dimensions (9.09 ft) and roles as easy-to-handle weekend racers.
