About the CRUZE 970 (CORSAIR)

Corsair Marine made some design changes and renamed it the C-31. The Cruze 970 (later called the Corsair 970) is a development of the C-31.
The Cruze 970 (Corsair) is a lightweight, high-performance fractional sloop designed by Ian Farrier and the Corsair Design Team, built by Corsair Marine starting in 2012. With a displacement of 4808.0 lb and a comfort ratio of 3.75, this vessel prioritizes speed and agility over heavy cruising comfort, reflecting its racing pedigree.
- Best for:
- This boat is best suited for performance-oriented coastal cruisers and racers who value high sail area-to-displacement ratios (31.95) and are comfortable with a light, responsive helm.
- Bluewater capability:
- With a capsize ratio of 5.35 and a variable keel system, the Cruze 970 is designed for coastal and nearshore racing rather than heavy offshore bluewater cruising, given its light displacement and narrow beam relative to its length.
- Comparables:
- Comparable vessels include other Farrier-designed catamarans like the Corsair 31 or similar lightweight 30-foot performance catamarans from the early 2010s, as they share the emphasis on low displacement and high sail area.
