About the CORBIN 35
A brochure exists and a number of these were sold however, according to Marius Corbin: "There never was such a thing as a 35' Corbin. We were making the mold of a 35' when the factory burned and we did not have enough insurance to cover the mold and it was never rebuilt. Consequently, we never made a 35' sailboat. We had a few sold, but we made a deal with those customers to buy a 39', instead." Thanks to David Sharman for providing information.
The Corbin 35 is a robust, heavy-displacement cruising yacht designed by Marius Corbin and built by Corbin le bateaux (CAN) in 1981. With a displacement of 16000.0 lb and a D/L ratio of 288.08, this vessel prioritizes stability and seakeeping over speed, reflecting its origins as a serious offshore cruiser.
- Best for:
- This boat is ideally suited for experienced coastal and offshore cruisers who value comfort and safety in heavy weather over high-performance sailing. Its cutter rig and substantial ballast make it a strong candidate for single-handers or couples seeking a stable, easy-to-handle passage maker.
- Bluewater capability:
- With a low capsize ratio of 1.92 and a comfort ratio of 28.9, the Corbin 35 is well-regarded for bluewater cruising due to its stable, motion-dampening hull form and substantial 6900.8 lb ballast.
- Comparables:
- Comparable vessels include the Tartan 36 and O'Day 36, which share similar heavy-displacement characteristics and cutter rig configurations from the early 1980s. These boats offer similar interior volumes and offshore capabilities, appealing to buyers seeking proven, conservative designs.
