Sailpages Buyer's Take

The Comet 333 is a compact, performance-oriented cruiser designed by A. Vallicelli and built by Comar (ITA) during a short production run from 1989–1990. With a displacement of 11243.0 lb and a D/L ratio of 223.58, it offers a balance of speed and stability typical of late-80s European designs.

Best for:
This boat suits coastal cruisers and weekend racers who prioritize sailing performance and agility over heavy bluewater comfort. Its moderate comfort ratio of 23.88 makes it well-suited for active sailors who enjoy responsive handling in moderate conditions.
Bluewater capability:
With a capsize ratio of 1.97 and a displacement of 11243.0 lb, the Comet 333 is capable of coastal passages but is not specifically designed for heavy offshore bluewater cruising.
Comparables:
Comparable boats include the Beneteau First 33 and the O'Day 33, which share similar dimensions and a focus on performance cruising. These models offer similar masthead sloop rigs and fin keels, providing a benchmark for handling and interior layout.
