About the COMET 20 (AUS)

From Nomad 20 Trailer Yacht Blog (http://nomad20traileryacht.blogspot.com/2009/09/more-nomad-history.html): "The [Comet 20] original design was know as a Nomad 20 trailer sailer and was designed and built in Australia by two partners. They had a disagreement and split up. One went to Melbourne with the mould. He modified it by adding a cabin hatch, raising the cabin height, changing the bow shape and the interior mouldings. He started a boat sales yard under the name of Bardo Sales."

Sailpages Buyer's Take

The Comet 20 is a compact fractional sloop designed by an unknown designer and built by Glascraft by Fibre-Glass Industries from 1970–1979. With a displacement of 1600.0 lb and a beam of 7.25 ft, this Australian-built vessel represents a lightweight, performance-oriented entry-level cruiser.

Best for:
This boat is best suited for coastal cruising and daysailing, particularly for single-handers or couples seeking a manageable, trailerable package with good sailing characteristics.
Bluewater capability:
With a low displacement of 1600.0 lb and a capsize ratio of 2.48, the Comet 20 is not recommended for serious offshore bluewater passages due to its light weight and limited range.
Comparables:
Comparable boats include the O'Day 23 and Pearson 23, which share similar fractional sloop rigs and target the same market of novice sailors and coastal cruisers from the 1970s.
