About the C&C 40-1

There were many versions of the C&C 40. This earlier version is simlar to the CRUSADER 40 but with the rudder attached to the keel, and a small bowsprit. Not built in great numbers and a completely different design from that of the later C&C 40's (after 1977).

Sailpages Buyer's Take

The C&C 40-1 is a classic 1970 design by C&C, built by C&C Yachts with a production run of 1970. With a displacement of 18790.0 lb and a comfort ratio of 34.14, it is a substantial vessel designed for performance and comfort.

Best for:
This boat suits coastal cruisers and offshore racers who prioritize a heavy, stable platform with a masthead sloop rig. Its high displacement and fin keel make it well-suited for those seeking a robust, traditional cruising experience.
Bluewater capability:
With a displacement of 18790.0 lb and a capsize ratio of 1.77, the C&C 40-1 is well-suited for offshore passages due to its heavy, stable hull form.
Comparables:
Comparable boats include the Cal 40 and O'Day 38 from the same era, which share similar displacement and beam characteristics. These vessels offer similar cruising comfort and performance profiles for buyers seeking a 40-foot classic.
