About the C&C 1/2 TON

A limited edition, semi-custom 1/2 ton racer with flush deck and stripped interior. First boat was 'SuperStar', (Hans Fogh, 7th at 1/2 ton cup, 1976, Trieste). C&C 29 (1977) is thought to be based on this design.

Sailpages Buyer's Take

Designed and built by C&C Yachts, the C&C 1/2 Ton is a compact offshore cruiser with a production run of 12 hulls constructed between 1975 and 1980. This rare model combines classic 1/2 Ton racing dimensions with cruising amenities, resulting in a specialized vessel that appeals to enthusiasts of vintage performance yachts.

Best for:
This boat suits experienced coastal cruisers and offshore racers who value the 1/2 Ton class heritage and are prepared to manage the maintenance demands of a 1970s fiberglass hull. Its 6400.0 lb displacement and 15.89 comfort ratio make it suitable for short-to-medium offshore passages rather than extended bluewater expeditions.
Bluewater capability:
With a capsize ratio of 2.33 and a displacement of 6400.0 lb, the boat offers moderate offshore stability, though its limited build count and age suggest it is better suited for protected coastal waters than heavy ocean passages.
Comparables:
Comparable vessels include other 1/2 Ton class yachts from the mid-1970s, such as the O'Day 30 or Pearson 303, which share similar displacement and era-specific construction methods. These boats are comparable due to their shared focus on racing credentials within the 1/2 Ton handicap system and similar age-related structural vulnerabilities.
