Sailpages Buyer's Take

Designed by David Cheverton and built by David Cheverton Ltd. (UK), the Caravel 25 is a rare classic with only 50 hulls constructed between 1958 and 1961. Its full/long keel and masthead sloop rig reflect the traditional cruising philosophies of the late 1950s.

Best for:
This boat suits traditionalists and coastal cruisers who value stability and simplicity over high-performance sailing. Its manageable size and robust construction make it appropriate for single-handers or couples seeking a low-maintenance, classic sailing experience.
Bluewater capability:
With a displacement of 6726.0 lb and a capsize ratio of 1.7, the Caravel 25 possesses the heavy displacement and full keel form necessary for safe offshore passage-making.
Comparables:
Comparable boats include the Contessa 26 and early O'Day models from the same era, which share similar displacement and full-keel characteristics. These vessels are comparable due to their shared focus on seaworthiness and traditional layout rather than speed.
