Sailpages Buyer's Take

The Aira 22 is a lightweight, fractional sloop designed by Simonis Voogd Design and built by Aira Boats, with production records indicating a start year of 2018. As a compact 21.33 ft vessel with a displacement of 1543.0 lb, it represents a modern, performance-oriented approach to small-boat sailing, though the total hulls built count remains unspecified in the source data.

Best for:
This boat is best suited for coastal day-sailing, club racing, or as a trailerable weekend cruiser for couples or small families who prioritize ease of handling and storage over long-term liveaboard comfort.
Bluewater capability:
With a low displacement of 1543.0 lb, a capsize ratio of 2.5, and a comfort ratio of 8.07, the Aira 22 is not designed for bluewater cruising and is best restricted to protected coastal waters due to its light weight and lack of heavy ballast.
Comparables:
Comparable boats include the Beneteh First 21.7 and the J/22, as they share similar fractional sloop rigs, light displacement characteristics, and a focus on responsive performance in coastal waters.
